EdTech501: emerging technologies
The Impact of using Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality in Education
|
Introduction Video
Welcome to my 3D virtual reality spaces. I will compare how we can use both augmented and virtual realities as tools for improving student learning outcomes. For this assignment, I will incorporate the SAMR model, which encompasses the redefining of digital tools and technology, demonstrating the critical roles digital tools play in how we learn today and in the future.

I believe that both augmented and virtual realities are tools that can be used in education if developed and delivered correctly. Together and separately they can be engaging tools for students. For my artifact, I will be focusing on VR and the integration of AR. Providing evidence to support the use of AR & VR. And discuss any issues that may arise regarding VR & AR technologies. |
Cavanaugh (2009) writes that virtual reality is "electronic game content that is designed media, which is intended to enhance the experience in an authentic 3D setting." Also, Educause states that "unlike virtual reality, augmented reality does not create a simulated reality. Instead, it takes a real object or space and uses technologies to add contextual data to deepen student's understanding of the content" Educause, (2005, p. 1).
